You 'cannot' change a MAC address, it is a 48-bit sequence hardcoded by manufacturer and supposed to be like the VIN on a car, specifically identifying that car or in our case, the network adapter. That being said, here is a link to another question where several MAC spoofers are listed. The ability to change this is dependent on your network drivers, and not all of them give you the option. If you don't have the Advanced option in properties, your NIC will probably not allow spoofing. Haven't tried downloading this and running a virus scan on it(which would probably throw warnings anyway as it changes registry keys) but it looks promising. Since it does change a registry key it looks like here you may be able to find yours. Replace 'cannot' with 'should not'.

Some cards have been known to store MAC in NVRAM, and could be changed with specialized software that may only work with certain cards (possibly in a manufacturer-specific, non-standardized way). How else would you respond to a situation of having two cards with the same MAC address? (e.g., notice the serial numbers mismatch in.
I've heard from multiple sources that this does happen, perhaps especially with warranty exchanges of specialized 'server' equipment.) – Dec 10 '15 at 19:44.

I constantly am dropped off the internet. No new airplane cards are available for this model.
All of a sudden the sales person at OWC finds this gadget that plugs into my USB, hardly shows and keeps me online. Now for very little money, my computer is good to go for maybe another 7 years?? I am a happy shopper! I would recommend this item to a friend!

I just recently moved and my modem was installed at the other end of my house and they didn't install Ethernet cable to my computer. So I needed a solution so that I could access the internet. The Edimax EW-7811Un 150Mbps Wireless 802.111b/g/n Nano- size USB Adapter worked just perfect.

I have done this with a number of items that I have gotten from OWC and have always been successful with them all. I was influenced by reading one of the reviews saying it would work with Mac OS 10.4 but I wasn't sure if it would work with my old ibook since I have heard that I might be out of luck with my ibook. Before I got it I looked at the Edimax website to see if I could find a driver and I downloaded that as well as the how to pdf.
Later when I got the package in the email there was a mini cdr that I could load and open with my ibook but it didn't have the right driver with it. The driver was for 10.6. The install was pretty easy but to get online was a little confusing for the first time. Look for available network and okay that then add your password 2 times and both fields are hidden when you add the password. Once I got it going it worked like a charm. The only way you can see if your connected is to look at Utility it installs or look at the adapter.
There's no indication in the menu bar. It is also hard to get out of the clamshell's usb port. I have also used it on my macbook 2010 (10.9) just to see what it would do. After the install there's a menu app that remains there and tells you ether have adapter connected or when it is connected it shows you as well connects you to your network and It also shows signal strength there was well. Only took 3 days to get to the Canadian border and then I think somebody walked it from Windsor to Erin, taking their time while doing it (about 3 weeks). However it does the job on my Powermac G5. Set up was easy, even for a klutz like me. I would recommend this item to a friend! Verified Buyer Reviewer: Anonymous Location: Ontario, Canada Age: Over 65 Experience Level: Home User Owned Product: 1-3 months Rating: 5/5 Very pleased with this product February 18, 2016 The nano size usb adapter is working well with my old eMac computer.
It is the only usb adapter I could find that would work with such a old OS. The only issue I had was that the installation software came on a 2' disk which won't fit in the DVD drive on a Mac. To get around this I just went to your site and downloaded the driver I needed; I put it on a memory stick and transferred it to the eMac. Everything went fine after that. Verified Buyer Reviewer: Anonymous Location: Chicagoan, IL Age: 45-54 Experience Level: IT Professional Owned Product: 1-3 months Rating: 3/5 Worked just for networking May 9, 2015 The USB Dongle is good for communicating over the internet but does not update using Apple's software update website. The reason is, the Dongle have it's own MAC ID and this MAC ID is foreign to the Apple Update website. It performed well online - no doubt it that. I switch my Internal NIC from one spare apple computer I have and it worked like charm. So basically this Dongle can be very useful to Windows Laptops or Desktops but for Apple I would rate only 3 out of 5. Driver software is very bare bones and does not always connect upon start up. At the price, any OS X mac with a busted airport card is well served with this unit. Long term reliability is not known. I would recommend this item to a friend!
